About Jim . . .
...off the stage... (click
for "at the mic" info)
I believe that to be truly healthy, you cannot have a one-dimensional life. With that in mind, here are some of my non-speaking related interests, history, and a few miscellaneous ramblings: I was a high school athlete, playing varsity football, baseball, and basketball, and am a proud member of the Armchair Quarterback Hall of Fame**. I still participate in these sports recreationally. How good I actually am... ...well.. that's a topic that is subject to debate. "Frequent laughter is essential to good health." (See the Inspiration Station section of this site.) I love to laugh, and I am a big fan of comedians/comediennes of all types and from every era. I also love to make people laugh. Sometimes, they laugh with me, and sometimes they laugh at me, but either way, still they laugh! I was my high school class' salutatorian, before attending Northeast Louisiana University (unfortunately, it is now known as the University of Louisiana at Monroe...ugh!). I received a BBA in December of 1987, majoring in Computer Information Systems. ( Yes, I am a NERD!! Run for your life!!! Save yourself!!!)** I am a musician. I've played the bass guitar regularly for 20+ years, and the drums, although much more infrequently, for about 15 years. (I am self-taught on both instruments.) I believe that in many ways, music can be some of the most effective therapy. I love motorcycles and sports cars, and believe that everyone deserves to own at least one
of each in his/her lifetime, if so desired. Much to my children's chagrin, however,
I believe each of us has the responsibility for acquiring them, AND the accompanying
insurance payments. (Anyone wishing to donate a Corvette ZR-1, or a Harley-Davidson
motorcycle to me can contact me by clicking here.
Hey, I didn't say we each had the responsibility to buy our own, just for acquiring
it.)
