Speech Contest Teleconference

What?  This is an opportunity to have your questions about the International Speech contest answered directly during a one-hour teleconference.

When?  The first teleconference is "in the books", but we had more questions than enough time to adequately address them.  Due to that, a second call will take place on the evening of Wednesday, March 19 at 7:00 PM (Central time zone in the U.S.).  If the demand continues to warrant it, I will conduct additional teleconferences in the subsequent weeks.

Why?  Every year, thousands of people worldwide enter the contests; some for the first time, and others who have competed previously.  In order to better equip those contestants, I'm offering to address those questions based on my experience and what I've learned.

What qualifies me?  I have a unique history with the International Speech contest.  I reached the World Championships of Public Speaking three consecutive times, which was unprecedented at the time.  I finished in 2nd place in both 2001 and 2002 before winning the Championship in 2003.  (Here's the press release from Toastmasters International)

That process was extremely difficult, but the experience afforded me the opportunity to learn a great deal about the contest process, what works and what does not, and the value of having an experienced voice to guide you.  That's why I'm conducting these teleconferences.

What is the cost?  Zero.  There is no fee for participation in this teleconference.  (I am doing this for the benefit of those who strive to better themselves through the contests.)  Since it is not a commercial endeavor, I am utilizing a no-cost teleconferencing service.  The call-in number is not toll free, so you may incur long distance charges to participate if your phone service charges extra for long distance service. (Some services include long distance.)

That's not to say that I eschew all commercial gain...<smile>  I've put together several resources that have helped many to become better speakers while preparing for the contests.  They have the added benefit absent from the teleconference of allowing you to study and digest the material over an extended time, and to revisit the material as often as you would like.  Additionally, much more material is covered in the resources than we will have time to cover in the teleconference.  If you appreciate what I'm offering and would like to have these resources to study, I would invite you to take advantage of them.  A special discount will be offered to all of those who join the teleconference.

How do I participate?  Click here to RSVP for the speech contest teleconference. You will then receive information on how to dial in to the call and how to submit your questions.
